Without ever following trends or pre-established styles, Ara Vartanian’s creative process always starts with the stone. The designer always looks at bringing a unique and innovative style to the pieces
Originally created in 2013, Chokers are necklaces that are adjusted to the neck, fitting the anatomic line of the female neckline with comfort and perfect symmetry.
I have always liked creating collars, firstly because of the challenge they present and also because I simply find necklaces to be very attractive on a woman. I see it as a challenge in the sense that it is very easy to fall into extravagance when exhibiting the stone. I am always focused on the strong balance between comfort and the anatomy of the neckline to create a piece that fits delicately and perfectly.
A variety of stones are used on these pieces but the gems that definitely stand out are the Paraiba tourmaline, the tanzanite, the emerald and the diamond.
Ara Vartanian also uses one of his creative hallmarks on these pieces: the inverted diamond.
