Rubi Pigeon’s Blood
Term traditionally used to designate a ruby of the highest quality in the world. Originally from Burma, in Southeast Asia, the Pigeon’s Blood has a slightly purplish red colour with vivid saturation and medium to dark shades.
Extremely rare, its colour and exceptional brightness make it the most desirable ruby. Since 2013 Ara Vartanian is one of a handful of jewellers to work with this rare type of ruby in the Brazilian market.
Interesting fact: In May 2015, the Pigeon’s Blood ruby fetched a world record of £ 19 million for a ring. Thus it became (except for diamonds) the most expensive rare stone in the jewellery world.
