Pocket Collection – Piercings
In August, Ara Vartanian opened his second store in Rio de Janeiro, this time in Ipanema (the first was opened in 2012 and is located in the Village Mall). In shop-in-shop format inside the new NK Store, the space incorporates elements of the designer’s newly opened London flagship store, such as the jewellery displays with brushed copper and a wooden table developed in collaboration with artist Hugo França. The table, which is the central piece of the store, combines the talents of two designers working with raw material – made of ancient wood coming from forest waste, the structure’s support is a piece of Brazilian crystal that crosses the wood.
For the opening, the store will launch the first pressure piercing pocket collection created by the jeweller. Following the cheering atmosphere that is contagious in Rio de Janeiro, host city of the world’s biggest sporting event in August, Ara Vartanian inspired by the Brazilian flag, created a series of three designs that reproduce its geometric shapes – circle, diamond and rectangle. The pieces are made of yellow or white gold with inverted black quartz and will be sold exclusively at the new address.
