In 2018, Ara Vartanian launched The Future is Brilliant program to discuss current issues and kickstart the search for practices with a positive impact in partnership with institutions and projects aimed at socio-environmental causes. The main focus is raising awareness within the luxury market of climate change, the conservation of Brazilian biomes, and the appreciation of the country’s artisan culture and communities.
In 2019, Ara Vartanian began mapping and personally visiting mines that stand out for their practices and actions in relation topeople and the environment. From the beginning, the idea was to share this information with the market to encourage other brands to do the same. To date, the project has two mines in the state of Minas Gerais (Cruzeiro and Belmont) and one in Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil Paraiba Mine) – the intention is for the program to be extended in the coming years.
The members of Mineração Consciente need to invest in the training, well-being and safety of their employees, in addition to valuing the surrounding community and providing a better infrastructure for the region. In relation to the environment, they must seek practices such as water treatment and reuse; the revitalization and preservation of native vegetation; and recycling in different spheres. They also need to look for the best disposal of non-precious stones and waste.
In 2016, Ara Vartanian created a gold recycling action called RESSIGNIFICAR. Today, the gold used in our pieces is 100% recycled. How does this work? The gold from your old jewelry is converted into credits towards the purchase of a new Ara Vartanian piece (evaluation carried out by our gemologist). In 2021, we use 100% recycled gold in the creation of our new jewelry. A sustainable solution, which goes hand in hand with our Conscious Mining project.
